Student Success Statement
“Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult , is the high road to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.”
Margaret Thatcher

Setting your mind to get used to a series of acts that help you think and see what and why, what you’re doing is right. You’re getting used to doing what’s right. Repeating and repeating gets these ideas in your mind to set and eventually stay.

Balancing High School and Part – time Work Part 2

Balancing High School and
Part – time Work
Part 2
Voicing your goals to someone else can help you make decisions and figure out your priorities. Its can also help you judge whether you can do both – work and study – successfully. To help answer this question, ask yourself:
  • Am I an organized person ?
  • What kind of study habits do I have?
  • Do I make good use my make good use of my available time?
  • Will I able to manage my schedule effective if I take on a part-time job?
  • Think about the pros and cons of working. On the plus side a job can teach you about commitment time management and responsibility – and, of course handing money on the minus side, a job can cut into the time you have for sleeping, studying and socializing

The grandmother that left her grandchild in a bathroom.

A grandmother leaves her granddaughter in the bathroom, not for a while but for six years. I honestly don’t have respect for her. How can someone do that to a living thing, not just anyone or something but her own blood, her family someone she’s supposed to lover, care and protect. Its taking life from someone.

Balancing High School and Part-time Work

Balancing High School and Part-time Work
Part1
like many high school students, you may want – or need- to work part time. Working takes a lot of time and energy, though, so before getting a job, make sure that you think about your ability to handle both work and your education.
Important considerations
You have to weigh a number of factors when deciding whether to take on a part-time job. Its important to get as much as possible , so you can figure out what makes the most sense for you.
Schedule a meeting with your school counselor to discuss the idea of working. Talk to your counselor about why you want to work and what type of position you’re seeking.

“To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice” –Confucius

To be a coward about something worthless that puts your life in danger, personally that isn’t cowardly. To face the truth and do something right knowing you should and you’re supposed to , its cowardice.

poem

'Tis the set of the sail

Ella wheeler Wilcox
But to every mind there openeth,
A way, and a way, and away.
A high soul climbs the highway ,
And the low soul gropes the low,
And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low ,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.

One ship sails east ,
and another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
'tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.
Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life,
'tis the of soul ,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

Selection Your Courses
Recommended Classes for College success
Part 1
The academic rigor of your high school courses is an important factor in the college admission process. College admission officers see your high school courses schedule as a blueprint of your education. They’re looking for a solid foundation of learning that you can build on in college.
To create that foundation, take at least five solid academic classes every semester. Start with the basic and then move on to advanced courses. Challenging yourself is a part of what makes school fun; but you need to firm grasp of the fundamentals before going on to more advanced work.

The metaphor here, symbolizes that a man and a ship both cannot move on without the main thing they need to move forward. They need to be push and motivated.

The Power of Study Groups Part 4

The Power of Study Groups
Part 4
Getting the Most out of a Season
Here are some tips to help your group get the most out of each study session:
·       Decide what you’re going to do in advance.
·       Prepare for the session, so you can make most of your time together.
·       Take turns teaching, to reinforce your own knowledge
·       Stick to the session topic.
By supplementing your individual study with a study group, you can reinforce what you’ve learned, deepen your understanding of complex concepts, and maybe even make a few new friends. Remember that a friend is a person who encourages you to do your best and achieve on a high level, one who pushes you to try a little harder and be a litter better. If someone pulls you down the wrong trails of life, then those people are not friends, (they are actually your enemies), and you must avoid them at all cost. Whoever said learning is enjoyable and exiting when you study with others.

Cover more ground. Group members may be able to solve a calculus problem together that none would have solved alone. Benefit from a support system. Members often have common goals, such as good grades. Each person’s work affects the other members, which result in making members supportive of one another. Socialize. It’s more fun to study with others; the give-and-take makes it more interesting. And because it’s more fun, you spend more time studying!

Goals
“In life as in football you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalposts are”
Arnold Glasgow
If you do not know where are you heading , your life is like a never ending trip. It would be like going in circles. Once you set your goals you know what you want and you can find an easier way around or to achieve them.

The Power of Study Groups

Part 1

Working together helps everyone

You may have noticed that when you’re explaining something you’ve learned to a friend, you begin to understand it better yourself. This happens because, when you explain an idea, you need to think more deeply about it.

The same principles make studying groups useful. Studying with others in small groups is helpful because you:
· Think out loud
· Share ideas
· Learn from one Another
In an effective study groups you and other students hash out lesson materials together—explaining concepts arguing about them, figuring out why one person’s answer differs from another’s—and in the process, you most likely learn more than you would have studying by yourself.

You need to do more than just read the chapters you are assigned. –
·         Don’t skim. Read all the material carefully.
·         Break up difficult assignments into sections you can digest-
Chapters , subsections or even paragraphs.
·         Look up any words  that you don’t understand .
·         Pause to think about whether you understand the material.
·         Take notes instead of highlighting – this makes you think through and rephrase the key points
·         Create a summary sheet of what you learned from each assignment you read.
